Shawna Flanagan, MD, is the founder of Genesis Dermatology, which she established in Jupiter, Florida, in 1998.
A graduate of the University of Missouri–Kansas City’s accelerated six-year medical program, she completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at NYU Medical Center, followed by an NIH-funded postdoctoral research fellowship in dermatology. Dr. Flanagan subsequently completed her dermatology residency at the University of Miami, where she continues to serve as volunteer faculty.

Board certified by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Mohs Surgery, Dr. Flanagan brings nearly three decades of experience to the medical and cosmetic care of her patients. She is known for her depth of medical knowledge, the precision and artistry of her cosmetic work, and her genuinely caring, unhurried approach. She is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of dermatologists.
Dr. Flanagan is the current president of the Florida Academy of Dermatology and a past president of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, which honored her as its 2023 Surgeon of the Year. She has served on numerous committees of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women’s Dermatologic Society, including as chair of the WDS Practice Management Committee.

Outside the office, Dr. Flanagan is married to Dr. Amir Lubarsky, an internist, and is the proud mother of two adult children, Ben and Julia. She enjoys traveling, discovering exceptional food and wine, playing golf, and practicing yoga.
